When people have been told something they are usually going to think that is what it is really like. After I was told about the southern, country cooking of Kleer-Vu Cafeteria I wanted to think for myself and be an optimist. But to be honest, I really did not know what to think about Kleer-Vu. I was told the food was something like I have never tasted. Being from the south and raised in Tennessee all of my life I thought that I have encountered the most deep-fried food there was to offer. I actually thought that Kleer-Vu was spelled Clear View, what a surprise! Maybe there would be some chandeliers or neon signs that said “OPEN;” I was wrong. When I walked into Kleer-Vu Cafeteria I immediately got the feeling of peace. Being there took me back to my grandparent’s house when the family would all get together and my grandma would cook a delicious meal that tasted just like Kleer-Vu’s food. It was everything that I expected, but nothing like it at the same time. I stood in the long line at lunchtime on a Friday afternoon and it felt like a home away from home. It is a great place to go to if you are homesick and want something to put you at ease. Usually in life it is the little things that count and make it more interesting. When I sat down in the old cafeteria chairs I took a look around and noticed how nothing matched. The trays were from an old elementary school that was open for only one year. The forks were never the same, they do not serve you out of glass cups or put just the right amount of sugar in the tea. The food they make and the way Kleer-Vu is set up is how they were raised and what makes up their culture. They do not fall into the typical restaurant where the waiters wait on youhand and foot to make sure everything is right and everything tastes wonderful. Sure, the cooks and servers love to make their customers happy and wish to assist them in any way that is possible, but when you come to eat there you get what you see. There are no special tricks...
