Kudler Frequent Shopper Program
Kudler Fine Foods has created a service request for a new frequent shopper program to keep track of customer trends and give returning customers rewards for being loyal customers. There are many grocery stores that have a frequent shopper program. This program will include a discount each time the customer shops along with the chance for rewards and prizes. A frequent shopper program also allows the company to track customer buying trends. The program also allows for the company to create customer specific advertising based on the information gathered from their shopping habits. The main goal of this program is to increase sales due to the targeted advertising based from the information gathered through the program. But, frequent shopper programs may also have some legal, ethical, and security issues for a retailer to consider.
Generally, databases for loyalty programs are monitored and maintained by outsourced companies. But, this can be a rather costly approach for the company when implementing a new program. Outsourcing has been an issue in the past due to information being stolen from these companies and used by cyber criminals and resulted in lawsuits (Bosworth, 2005). This is another good reason to create and maintain the new database system within the company. Many legal concerns should be taken into consideration by Kudler Foods. There are a few legal considerations that Kudler Foods will need to watch.
Kudler Foods must implement an opt-in consent regarding all membership in the program and must include consent for any advertising e-mails that are sent to the customers. Kudler Foods must follow all E-commerce guidelines regarding e-mail advertising and communications. If Kudler Foods is going to also implement any type of online services or ordering, then these orders would require a signature for the transaction and must follow all E-commerce regulations....
