“I have great confidence that the truth is beginning to come through to more and more people. This is how change takes place.” –Howard Zinn
This quote stuck out to me because change doesn’t happen too often. For instance, some of us change is hard and it is easier to not stand up for what we really believe but just to go with the flow of things around us. What we don’t understand is by not standing up to what we believe in just gives those in power to keep making the same mistakes over and over again. I do agree that truth should be spoken so people see the real light to the problem so things can change for the better.

Children were taught to not associate with other black children and they saw how their parents treated those of such race too. Sometimes we get in a rut because that’s just something we’ve always done or that’s how we were taught, and we aren’t so concerned if it really is the right way to do things. There is so much racial hate even in this world today, it is sad because I agree with Howard Zinn when he mentions we should take down the boarders of this world and love each other like brothers. We should all treat each other with equally and with respect.

Mother Jones- Mother Jones was known as a “folk hero”. She was born in 1830 and was known as a Union Activist. Mother Jones also founded the Social Democratic Party and help establish the Industrial Workers of the World. In 1867, she lost her Husband and their several children to a yellow fever outbreak. From then on she started out as a Teacher and then a Dressmaker and became a tireless fighter for the working class.
As a Labor activist Mother Jones often gave speeches to inspire the workers during strikes. At the age of 82, she was arrested for her part in a West Virginia strike that turned violent and she was sentenced to 20 years. She was then quickly...
