When you have finished reading the novel, create a multimedia book report. Your report should include the following elements:
Background information about the setting of the novel
Animated story map
Explanation of the novel’s themes
Critique of the novel

Complete the following tasks:

Background Information
Conduct research online or in your school library to learn more about the time period and place in which the story takes place.
Properly site your sources
List important events and significant individuals from that time period.
Take notes on the geographic features and climate of that area.
Compare the information you find to make sure it is valid. If there is conflicting data, find additional sources to verify the information.
Use a presentation program to create one or more slides listing historical and geographical information about the book’s setting.
Save your work and back it up!

Animated Story Map
Use a draw or paint program (or ActivInspire or Comic Life) to create a story map that illustrates the basic plot of the novel.
Import your story map into a presentation program.
Add animation effects to make the text and images on the story map appear one at a time.
Save your work and back it up!

Themes
Identify and describe the major themes of the novel.
Cite specific passages from the story to illustrate each theme.
Use a presentation program to create one or more slides explaining these themes.
Save your work and back it up!

Critique
Evaluate the overall effectiveness of the novel, listing its strengths and weaknesses.
Support your ideas with specific examples from the book.
Use a presentation program to create one or more slides critiquing the book.
