Communication is very important in the world today, especially if you are going to an unfamiliar place. When communicating with people you don’t know it is best not to use slang or colloquialism because the person you are communicating with may not know what you are trying to say and can often become confused. However the person you are communicating with may be a family or friend, slang probably wouldn’t become an issue because that person would more than likely be able to understand the content of your message.
Another thing to remember when communicating is not to repeat yourself even saying the same thing in a different way can cause the person to become confused this can be called conversation rituals. For example don’t say thank you and then turn around and say thanks.
When going to the grocery store to get groceries, I often run into several people that I know and often communicate with them and in some cases I may not even know the person I am communicating with but regardless I can still hold a decent conversation with them. This lets people know weather or not you like to communicate with others, which lead to adherence in taboo.
However there are second language influences that some of us may use when communicating with others, for example some words may be adopted into the English language, for example, foods a lot of foods come from the French or Italian language, and so forth.
We all have different priorities weather it be work related family related and so forth or maybe just priorities that we have set for our self. Going to another culture we have to realize that the things we do may seem odd to people from another culture. Some things may need to be changed in order to fit in with that culture, for example the way we dress to the foods we eat.
