For several Decades leadership roles used to be designed only for men. Historically, the gender rule made it impossible for women to become leaders in any industry. Still, today males account for the majority of leadership functions. Furthermore, it is agreed that women face more barriers than men to get a leadership role, especially if it is within male dominated environment. Several authors argue that leadership roles are described in a stereotypically masculine way normally. Some interlectual describe the challenges faced by a leader woman as a labyrinth. Ironically, it has been shown that more women than men are graduating from college. Consequently, more women have become more involved into exercising leadership roles. This shift into more powerful positions by women continues to attract attention. Through out this paper I will highlight the differences between men and women leadership styles. There’s many different theories based on various frameworks that take into account differences between leadership styles of men and women. My main goal in this paper is to on whether there are significant differences in leadership style between men and women.
Various authors have shown that leadership styles of men and women are different. The researchers concentrate on women who are more cooperative, social, oriented on developing skills and being less hierarchical (Rosner, 1990, Rosner, 1995 and Helgesen, 1990). Thus, women as leaders often take over democratic style are better team players who are reward oriented. This is supported by F ondas (1997) who suggests that women tend to choose more transformational style because they can use advantage of rewards.

While comparing Leadership styles of men and women literature reviews typically express the idea that more focus is on women regarding gender issues concerning leadership styles.
