Combat Leadership


Action: Demonstrate and apply knowledge

Leadership is inspiring/influencing people and providing purpose, direction, and motivation to accomplish the mission.

TYPES OF LEADERSHIP:
Delegative: Allows subordinates to make all the decisions.
Authoritarian: tell subordinates what to do and how to do it. Bosses people around
Participative: Includes subordinates in the decision making process. Maintains final decision making authority.

Leaders are: standard bearers, developers, integrators.
Set realistic goals
have a sense of urgency
take care of others
hold subordinates to a standard, know their strengths and weaknesses.

You can delegate authority, but you can never delegate responsibility.

Challenges:
Endure what your soldiers endure.
Control emotions.
Provide cover for those below you.

-Seek subject matter experts upon arriving at new unit.

A leader's integrity, credibility and trustworthiness are the most important factors in rating a leader's effectiveness.
