The Left Brain vs. the Right Brain: How it impacts learning
The human brain is a very complex system that is divided into two sides, the left side and the right side, also known as the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere. Each side has different functions which have an impact on learning. “The hemispheres can be divided into lobes, corresponding roughly with deep fissures: temporal (side), occipital (back), parietal (top), and frontal.” (Stevenson, J. 1996). The left side of the brain controls the right side of the body, and the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body. Each side impacts learning, depending on whether a person is left side dominant, right side dominant or right/left brain neutral.
The left brain is known as the logical part of the brain, giving a person the ability to understand speech and reading.
