The film “Legally Blonde” is a comedy that is full of stereotypes. When you first watch the movie, it’s easy to think that you have all the characters pegged. But you will soon learn that they are not as predictable as you might have thought. After watching this movie, I now feel less inclined to stereotype, and more inclined to get to know the real person, as opposed to just judging them by their appearance.

One of the easiest to stereotype is Elle Woods, played by Reese Witherspoon. She is a very typical high-maintenance blonde. She is gorgeous, has a great body, and she knows it. Surprisingly, however, she is quite humble and she doesn’t think she is better than her peers because of her beauty. Of course, her favorite color is pink. What ditzy girl has a favorite color other than that? She actually isn’t entirely ditzy. I think naive would be a better word. Ditzy sort of implies that she is dumb. But as the movie goes on, we learn that she isn’t dumb at all. She is actually quite smart, just in her own unique way. When she isn’t getting her nails done, shopping, or driving her Porsche that her rich daddy bought for her, she is with her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III (Matthew Davis). Warner happens to be wealthy, extremely good looking, and very successful. His goal is to become a senator by the time he is 30. It is for this purpose that he dumps Elle while they are having dinner at a nice restaurant. She went there expecting him to propose. But when he tells her he needs someone more serious, she is totally taken aback and of course, she throws a fit.

In an effort to get Warner back, she applies for Harvard Law School. Even though she was a fashion major, and she has no credentials that would appeal to the people at Harvard, she got accepted. When she arrives at Harvard, she is wearing all pink and she draws a lot of attention to herself. She looks like she just stepped from the fluorescent 1980’s into the black and white 50’s. I...
