Legislative Election
I live in the third congressional district, the twenty-ninth assembly district, and the fifth state district. For the House of Representatives, Dina Titus is running against john porter.
Dina Titus is the Democratic candidate running for US House of Representatives. She is trying to raise employment in Nevada by investing in renewable energy such as solar energy, wind energy, and geothermal energy. She also wants to extend solar investment and a production tax credit for wind energy; and By helping companies in control of renewable energy and expanding their research, she would open up more job opportunities which would also benefit the future of the US. The tax credits mentioned for wind and solar energy would be covered by taking away the tax breaks made for oil companies. Dina Titus also wants to expand grant opportunities at UNLV for students going for degrees in technology and renewable energy. Titus is against the war in Iraq, against Yucca Mountain waste, and wants to fortify No Child Left Behind program.
John Porter is the Republican candidate running for the US House of Representatives He has similar goals as Dina Titus, but has different ways of accomplishing them. First off John Porter wants to eliminate our dependence on oil from external nations such as Iran and Venezuela. He also thinks we should focus on energy and gas of America—which would bring down gas prices in the US. He is also very interested in renewable energy research. Porter has voted against tax increases on employers, which he believes takes away job opportunities. He wants to build new energy efficient schools in Clark County. Porter wants to better enforce our borders by hiring and training more border agents. He voted yes on increasing immigrant visas for skilled workers—which would help filter who comes into the country
