Letter of Recommendation
I am very pleased to write this recommendation for Mr Chinmay Jade. I taught him undergraduate courses in ‘Signals & Systems’, ‘Signal Coding & Estimation Theory’ and ‘Optical Fibre Communication’ spread over the second, third and the final years of the program. From our interactions over this fairly long period, I observed him mature as an engineering professional and develop several desirable qualities that make him an ideal candidate for the Graduate Program.
Our most extensive association was when I guided his team of three in their final-year project ‘AstroDat – Data Logger for Astronomical Research’. As soon as the project was taken on, he eagerly questioned the scientists of the sponsoring organization to thoroughly understand their requirements and the essential concepts of the esoteric field to which it related. He worked diligently, from the concept to the final design of the system, taking into consideration the available alternatives in the context of requirements and the paramount consideration, cost. He showed extraordinary persistence and diligence and used every knowledge resource he could tap to overcome several difficulties in the interfacing of the components and the design of the PCBs. He made an in-depth study of Zigbee. His effort helped to keep the project on track and I noted with satisfaction at every review meeting that the team was achieving its milestones. I was deeply impressed by the final result of the effort- a compact, portable and robust system that met all the requirements of the sponsors to perfection. For its complexity and achievement of the goal, the project was, perhaps, the best among twenty-odd projects in the class.
I can say that he was a sincere student, genuinely interested in learning and having a strong practical orientation. He showed excellent talent for managing diverse activities, ranging from technical events during the College tech-fest and the final-year project. He...
