I grew up in Nairobi, the capital city of a country called Kenya in the Eastern part of Africa. Growing up in any part of this great continent is quite an experience and you end up learning lots of things from your childhood to adulthood. Since my country is one of the developing countries in the world, there was difficulties as well as good times that I experienced in those teen years. For example, going to school is the worst experience any kid goes through and I wasn't an exception. You can imagine waking up very early in the morning every day in a cold environment. How you long to go back into your warm blankets. I was one of the lucky students who had a pair of shoes that I could use to walk through the rough roads to school. I used this pair of shoe for a very long time, since my parents could not afford buying shoes all the time during those years. But anyway, I managed to finish my elementary school and joined high school a few months later.

There are lots of things that you can enjoy looking at in Nairobi. My friends and I for example, loved to pass through shopping malls just to have a look at the latest electronics that were on sale. From television sets, radios , computers and even color emitting bulbs. Those are some of the things that a kid could do day in day out. As an adult, I enjoy visiting museums and archive centers where I can see sculptures and artifacts of our great national heroes who fought for our independence. The airport is also a spectacular place since I can view planes land at a very close range. Other things to watch include the tall skyscraper buildings, the fish ponds at Uhuru park and also the acrobats teams practicing and performing in the streets. The skater boys and bicycle riders cannot be left behind as they criss-cross the streets frequently especially in the weekends. Magicians also do host shows once in a while in the city and you will be thrilled by their magic. The other day, a magician swallowed a whole newspaper...
