Living longer is Easy
Jenny Craig Inc., YMCA at USA Inc., Bally Total Fitness, Weight Watchers International, South Beach Diet, and Special K products are all businesses that have one thing in common. Many people ask the simple question: What is it that these different businesses have in common? All these corporations are simply promoting a healthier lifestyle on people in our society. Even though these corporations spend millions of dollars advertising and promoting healthier lifestyles, statistics show that Americans are getting unhealthier by the year. Some advertisements, such as fast food industry commercials, make the unhealthy lifestyle look so much easier than living healthy. What most Americans do not know is that living healthy is also easy, what most advertisements fail to do is inform citizens of risks of being unhealthy. Simply keeping your psychological health in mind, managing your stress, getting sleep, getting your nutrition, and managing your weight can lead you to live longer than the average American today.
First, the key to living a healthy life is maintaining a good balance of your psychological health. Psychological health is the mental, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions of heath. It is a complex interaction between a person’s history and his or hers thoughts about and interpretations of the past and what it means to the present. The term “mental health” refers the thinking part of your psychological health; it includes your values, attitude, and beliefs. It is defined as the successful performance of mental function and results in productive activities, fulfilling relationships, and the ability to cope with life’s changes. A mentally healthy person has the intellectual ability to sort through information, messages, and life events, to attach meaning, and to respond appropriately.
