After Nine Eleven, one of the most tragic days in American history, America came together and united in Patriotism. This is one of the few large losses that resulted in a gain. But in Africa, people die everyday from the HIV virus, AIDs, starvation, and from extreme poverty. What good can come from so many people dieing day after day? Some things and events are just too tragic or evil for any gain to result in the end. When people with much more ahead of them in their life pass away it is very tragic, and no good can come from such an untimely death.
Right after the towers were struck, many men and women risked their lives to try and save others. In the days to follow American flags were everywhere and everyone tried to do something to help out. Patriotism became so prevalent and our country became more united than ever. Even though what happened was so terrible, it brought so much good in its wake.
In Africa, countless people including children die everyday from the AIDs epidemic. Most of the people in Africa live in such extreme poverty and suffer devastating losses everyday, whether it be the death of a loved one or the just lack of clean drinking water. There is no gain that can come of such tragic conditions, and because of this people think there is nothing they can do to help.
Untimely and unexpected deaths are other losses that do not result in a gain. When the world looses someone who has yet to really live there life no one wins. A young child dies, where could that kid have been in ten years? Everyone deserves a chance to go somewhere in life, but when its life comes to an early end they don’t even get a chance. Loosing youth is so devastating because the youth are the future. When some ones future is denied there is no gain, just a great loss.
Most things that are lost can be replaced, but when that loss is human life it can not be replaced. Tragedy can bring people together, but also tear people apart. We are told that we...
