Authoritarian, authoritative, and permissive are the three main parenting styles used in society. These styles have been used for many years and many more to come. Authoritarian parent is considered to be a controlling parent who tells the child what they can and can’t do. Authoritarian parent basically believes that a child should be seen and not heard. Authoritative parent allows their child to have an opinion. Authoritative allows a child to be seen and heard. The last parenting style is the permissive parent. A permissive parent allows the child to whatever he or she wants. Permissive parent has no boundaries set for the child to follow.
What type of parent are you looking to be? Are you looking to an authoritarian, authoritative or a permissive parent? The best way to raise a child can come from all three parenting styles. Each parenting style has its unique and outstanding traits. Using techniques from each style and combining them together you will come out with well raised child. Giving a child to much freedom can be dangerous as well as being too tough on a child. Being able to balance all three of these styles into one child can produce a well balanced person.

When it comes to disciplining your child there are several ways. Many Authoritarian parents believe in spanking their child. This allows the parent to have control of their child because this puts fear into the child. The child is then less likely to keep pushing the buttons of parents. These children are less likely to keeping doing the same thing they were punished for over and over again. This is what many ethnicity groups believed. For many years there was no harm in spanking a child until they decided it was a form of child abuse Children raised under the authoritarian parent style are much more respectful because they parents demanded that from them regardless of how someone treats them.
