The Functions of Management Jack Mundell University of Phoenix The Functions of Management Planning As an Operations Manager (OM) planning at site level is very much a part of my weekly, monthly, and annual routine. I am one of six OMs that make up a team. Each of us is assigned champion areas. Each OM then selects a committee and makes plans to achieve the goals of that particular champion area. Organizing Organizing is now often referred to as building a dynamic organization and is an essential part to the functions of management. Without organization life in the business world would be chaotic, with no sense of direction. Organization puts everything in perspective. With this in mind, let us look at what organizing is. I have 10 Team Leaders (TLs), and they each have around 22 agents that I am responsible for. I delegate different jobs to each TL to assist in assuring that the goals of the company are being met. I also meet with them each week as a team and individually to encourage them and receive feedback from them as well. Leading I am very big on leading by example. I use empowerment consistently. The first thing I do when I arrive at work is to walk the floor, and say hello to my TLs and the agents. I could not have asked for a better team. The team is known for their teamwork.
