In this management and leadership essay we will address how the two previously mentioned business aspects affect, Elco Floor Coverings, Inc., our selected organization. In this essay we will first describe our selected organization. Then we will examine the roles and responsibilities of leaders in creating and maintaining a healthy organizational culture, differentiate between management and leadership, describe the roles that organizational managers and leaders play in creating and maintaining a healthy organizational culture, explain how the four functions of management support the creation and maintenance of a healthy organizational culture. We will then conclude this article with two strategies that organizational managers and leaders can use to create and maintain a healthy organizational culture.
I chose Elco Floor Coverings Inc., because its size and structure typifies many of the small businesses in America. Although they are small business they still operate under the same business structure that a large business would operate under. Elco floor coverings, Inc., was started by the Diem family over 33 years ago and is still family run and operated. Today, the business continues to thrive near Lebanon county PA and employees over 20 direct employees and subcontractors. They are the leading flooring installer in the county and continue to strive for excellence and provide a lifetime guarantee on all installations (Elco Floor Coverings, Inc., 2008). Now that you know a little more about our selected organization you will better understand how they operate and their relation to afore mentioned topics that will be addressed.
