Tenaga Nasional Berhad is the largest electricity utility company in Malaysia and also the largest power company in Southeast Asia with RM65 billion worth of assets serving over six million customers throughout Peninsular Malaysia and the eastern state of Sabah. TNB’s core activities are in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. (Annual report 2007)
Globally and regionally, TNB enjoys a reputation for outstanding performance. TNB is the only Malaysian energy company to rank among the top 50 energy companies in Asia in 2006. This report is a management analysis report for TNB and it is divided into two main parts. The first part is to describe and analysis of the company and its external and internal influences to which the company has identified, where as the second part is to show the knowledge management and the learning organization on how it influences policies and decision making.
As Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is one of the largest electricity utility company with assets which worth more than RM 60 billion and serving more than 6 million customers through out Malaysia, TNB is in good condition statues because its debt equity ratio is increasing much until 219.5% from the financial perspective. From the perspective of accounting, TNB build a good impression in terms of its profit and its performances because its gross dividend increases. Although Malaysia's power industry is undergoing deregulation, TNB has successfully resisted efforts to split up the company, which is two-thirds government-owned. (Annual Report 2007)
