It is a vital necessity for one to keep his room clean. Not only is having a dirty room disgusting, but I am disrespecting myself and those around me. It is important that I not let myself become carried away, interested in my own life and ignore others around me. It is an opportunity to be sheltered by the United States Marines and I should be requesting the requests they ask of me while living here. This is not my permanent home; I am only here for a short time. I should be treating this area as if it were my own home in which I would not desire to be disgusting. In keeping my room messy I am disrespecting myself as well as the others who share this room with me, as well as the people who gave me this opportunity. I have a responsibility that I need to fulfill while being here. Being here is a commitment I have decided to make for myself, so I need to treat it like one. The task I am asked to fulfill is something as simple as cleaning my room. I have taken on laziness and have not done this small task and I was caught. Cleaning my room should have been something I was taught at a younger age, as well should I have learned it then. I am a grown man and a member of the United States Marines; I should not have to be told to clean my room at my age. If I desire respect, then I also believe that I need to earn it. Not only should I be responsible in doing this but I should know how really disgusting it is. Having a dirty room in unsanitary and unorganized, there are so many guys in such a small space it is important that we all know that we need to be clean.
