In this paper there will be descriptive parts of how to market a product or service to the public for use or consumption.
Marketing mix begins with four important ingredients: Product, Place, Price, and Promotion. These four words play a major part in how companies market their products. Having worked in the hospitality industry for over fifteen years I have seen products succeed and fail as far as promoting. In product marketing there has to be a successful mix of the right product, in the right place, sold at the right price, and using a suitable and quality promotion.
Product must have an appeal to even get the consumer to consider if this is a product or service that they would like to participate in or purchase. The product must have the right features this means that the product must look good and work exceptionally well. For example a company like Westin Hotels has a brand that appeals to consumers all around the world. The product has its own brand name as well as products that scale on an international basis. Their product consists of scents, soaps, candles, hair and skin products, linens, bedding and many more. Westin stands by their brand because of the fact that they are an international brand and consumers from all aspects of society frequent and use their brand. Marketing place a major role in the requirements market and the functionality of the product as well. This product has proven to meet the needs of the consumer which can be identified through their market research. Westin product has been broadened by the consumer demand for their products brand and service. Marketing plays a key role in determining how the appearance of their product and the requirements of the market and the function must address the needs of the consumer.
