This book was about a man by the name of Gay Hendricks who life was change by one conversation with a man by the name of Ed Steinbrecher who he met at a party. Before this conversation took place Mr. Gay thought he had it all but he also knew that a piece of his life was missing. Mr. Gay was involved with a lady by the name of Kathlyn but he was afraid of a serious relationship or commitment. He told Mr. Gay to put himself in his shoes and to imagine that he was on his deathbed and to ask himself this question “was his life a complete success”? If not what things would he have wish he could have change and don’t forget to put it in the perspective from his deathbed. The first thing Mr. Gay wish was that “my life is not a total success because I never enjoyed a long and happy marriage with a woman I adore and who adore me”. Then Mr. Gay had to explain why this was important to him, so since Mr. Gay is not on his deathbed he had a chance to turn that wish into a goal. Ed then ask Mr. Gay what was his second wish “I wish I would have said all the things I never got around to saying to my friends and extended family, I wish I confess some secret I was holding, I wish I told some people how much I love them, I wish I told my daughter how sad I felt that I broken some of promises to her”. Once again he had to explain why this was important to him and turn it into a goal. Ed then moves on to the third wish “I wish I generated a complete written record of everything of significance I had learned during my time on earth”. The fourth wish was “I wish I’d developed an understanding of GOD and divinity – one that I can feel in my body, not just think about intellectually”. I wish I wouldn’t have rushed through life, I never stop to savor the precious moments along the way”. Of course he had to explain why those three wishes were important to him and turn them into goals.
