Are They Lovin’ It? So we all know that America is filled with fast food. Americans are too busy to sit down to a home cooked meal. They go all day and instead of running to the grocery store they sit in the car through a drive-through. The most well known fast for restaurant is of course McDonald’s. Since we Americans do not like to do labor, doesn’t that mean someone has to do it for us? Who slaves at the grill in the back of a McDonald’s? A job at this fast food restaurant is not just working at the fries or filling some drinks. This job requires the workers to leave their lives in the parking lot and put on their robot suits. Barbera Garson wrote an article on the working conditions in a McDonald’s restaurant. This article goes deep into minds of different fast food workers. The first person she interviews is a teenager, Jason Pratt, who recently was employed at McDonald’s. He explains the exact ins and outs of working in front of a grill. Everything has its own beep or buzzer. After walking her through an intense visualization of the grill, he explains how he feels. Jason reveals that being a McDonald’s employee does not require a brain. Working at the fastest speed you possibly can without any room for error is exactly how they like it. Every single item even touched in a McDonald’s kitchen is premeasured to the exact amount. Only twelve onions are allowed on any single patty. Of course after the grill comes the fries. Next, Barbera interviews June Sanders, a girl who says she only worked for one day at the fry vat. This fry vat was very high tech and invented for the perfect amount of crispiness of each and every single French fry. Though June Sanders only worked there for a day, she felt as if she were an expert. She cooked the fries and then put them in their packages.
