Gregor Mendel Reflection Paper

Johann Mendel was born on July 22, 1822, in Heizendorf, Austria. During his childhood, Johann worked as a gardener. Mendel was accepted into priesthood in 1847, and tried pastoral duties but it became apparent he was more skilled at teaching. While entering monastic life, he decided to change his name to Gregor. In the year of 1851, he started training at the University of Vienna to become a teacher of mathematics and biology.
Gregor was inspired by his professors from the University and his colleagues at the monastery to study the variation of plants. About half of his fellow monks at the monastery treated Gregor with disrespect while the other half treated him the opposite. Between the years of 1856 and 1863, Medel had cultivated and tested about 28,000 pea plants which gave him two generalizations (Mendel’s Laws of Inheritance.) He often wondered about the way plants obtained atypical characteristics. After experimenting, he found that the plants respective offspring had the main traits of the parents, and therefore weren’t influenced by the environment. This conclusion pointed Gregor towards the idea of heredity.
Mendel wasn’t only interested in plants, he was also intrigued with meteorology and theories of evolution.aaaa aaaaaaaaaa aaaa aaaa aaaa aaa a aaaaaa aaaaa aaaaa aaaaaa aaaaaaaa aaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaa aaaa aaa aa aa aaaa aaaa aaa aaa aaaa in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in
