THINGS I WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE IN OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM

Any educational system has, in my opinion, its strong and weak points. The question is whether these weak points are taken into consideration and measures are taken to improve the situation and make people feel comfortable in the society.
As far as our country is regarded concerns our country, recent changes have occurred in school education as well as in higher education. Some of them (centralized tests for example) I consider quite positive as the so-called personal factor is excluded here, what in its turn makes the whole procedure far more objective than it used to be. But some of the recent changes and not only changes, but also what has already existed over a long period of time I would like to change so as to make the process of getting education more effective and “true to life”.
First of all, let us consider school education. According to new programs pupils are obliged to study 12 years instead of former 11. Furthermore, the so called “vocational education” has been introduced. On the one hand, this has been done to help pupils concentrate on their future career and study more precisely the subjects they really need for their future life. But on the other hand, pupils start to forget the subjects they have to study for centralized tests they have to pass for entering a university. Then, this assessment scale (from 1 to 10) hasn’t proved its successful existence yet. Teachers in many schools are still afraid of giving (to give) these maximum marks (tens), as they sincerely believe that only a teacher can get a ten. But this scale has been developed and worked out for pupils, not for teachers!!! So there is no need to be afraid of praising a good pupil by giving him/her extremely high marks for really good job and hard work!
On the whole, I think that our school educational system doesn’t give really strong preparation for further education. Pupils often have to study with personal tutors and...
