Changes in Bydgoszcz. Presentation of modern architecture and landscapes in our city.
Bydgoszcz is the biggest city in kujawsko -pomorskie region in Poland. The history of this city extends to the first part of the 11th century. Today it is one of the most populous cities in Poland. Ongoing, wide-ranging expansion and revitalization are designed to not only improve the appearance but also to restore former high and economic position. The city has long and very an eventful history, which had a huge impact on the appearance and functionality. The city has developed cultural, industrially and mostly architecturally. What is more, it has changed quickly what can be seen clearly in the variety of landmarks, locations and monuments.
We can find a few buildings in Bydgoszcz which have unusual construction and they are contributing the city landscape. One of those buildings is Bydgoszcz Marina, which won the competition for the best block in the year in 2012 and the World Leisure International Innovation Prize in 2012. On the one hand, it is visually an attractive building with a wooden facade and impressively illuminated at night. On the other hand, it is an integral element of a comprehensive revitalization of Mill Island. The project like that is a quite unique for Polish conditions. Today the object functions as a hotel and many tourists come to visit it. We should be proud of it because it is place worth to see and Bydgoszcz Marina is one of amazing components of Mill Island.
Next examples which deserve to attention are Mill Island and Opera Nova. The first one is island with Brda river and it is a great place for relaxing, entertainment and do sightseeing. The place went through the process of revitalization in 2006 – 2012. Now we can find there a lot of green oasis and playgrounds because of the incredible changes of the island.
