The Shawshank Redemption is a 1994 film, written and directed by Frank Darabont.
Throughout the film Darabont defines the redemptive power of hope.
He demonstrates this through the main character Andy Durfresne.
Dufresne uses hope as a tool by empowering Red that there is life beyond the walls. Spreading hope through the prison Dufresne makes it possible to escape the prison, if not physically mentally.

Furthermore these aspects clearly show that the shawsank redemption is a remarkable film which brings hope to all.



Andy dufresne is a persistent man; this is depicting through the movie.

Getting the books for the library
He sticks with the fact that he is innocent through the whole film


Andy dufrense finds opportunities to seek what he wants.

Durfense takes the opportunity to make red believe in hope



This is shown because his thoughts on hope completely change
He has the courage to move beyond what he has when he gets out and to go and find


They two of them make a wonderful friendship

· Once they have both leaved the prison they meet up

· They have each others backs



Andy always finds opportunities to show hope.

By going on through life in prison although he is innocent
That even when you are in there not to let yourself die mentally


Andy takes risks throughout the movie.

In this way, Andy's escape from Shawshank proves the ultimate triumph of the human spirit over injustice and inhumanity.
