My Path to a College Degree
Even though there may be issues of not being able to complete my education because of unforeseen reasons, I am willing to give it my all. I feel intrigued by the benefits of a college degree. Deciding if I can handle the lifestyle changes, the obstacles to successful completion, and the strategies I would need to learn so I can overcome these obstacles and graduate with pride.
I have thought about returning to school for quite some time now. When I was younger, I wanted to be a Nurse (RN) and work in some type of environment for the elderly. I was already working as a CNA/Med-Tech and wanted to further my education. I had worked in the nursing home for about four years. After graduating high school, I worked at our local hospital. Circumstances kept me from college when I was younger. Then life just happened, I moved on and figured it was too late to go back now.
One reason I never returned to school is I have never believed I was smart enough, as I never had the encouragement. When I asked my husband if he thought I might be able to complete my education, his reply was, “Leona you can do anything you put your mind to do.” This encouraged me to start looking for a school that would work for me; I found three in which I became interested. All three taught in different formats, and they were all easy enough to learn. I made a list of both good and bad points, and then compared them. I took off the most expensive, the last two were close; as you can probably figure out I chose Ashford University.
I have been able to learn in a more relaxed atmosphere. I wanted to find a school that could help me develop the ability to evaluate behavioral and mental processes relating to personal, social, and organizational issues. I feel some of the benefits I receive from Ashford are great,...
