“When Mucus checks into your chest, make it check out with Mucinex®.” Mucinex® is used to break up the mucus in your chest so that you may have fast relief from congestion. Mucinex® claims to be one of the best products on the market for relieving chest congestion. “Only Mucinex® has a unique dual-release formula to help break up the mucus that causes congestion.” The advertisement that I have chosen to describe has a proportional layout of objects on the page. The ad is horizontally divided in half near the middle of the page. The character on the top portion is positioned vertically.
There is an obvious message in this advertisement. “When mucus moves into your chest and causes congestion . . ., you can show mucus the exit with Mucinex®.” The colors used in this ad are mostly very dull. The advertiser was probably trying to show how unpleasant mucus build-up can be. The character, Mr. Mucus, is a slimy green cartoon character with a dirty white shirt that says “mucus world tour”, and he is surrounded by suitcases that have different people’s names on them. Underneath him is a caption that says, “Tour canceled by Mucinex®”.
This simply means that Mucinex® put a stop on the development of excess mucus.
The motto for this product is “Mucinex® in. Mucus out.”. The selling tactic used in this advertisement is humorous. The advertiser uses a personification of mucus to sell the product to the consumers. I believe that the stereotype for this ad would be who only people that have chest congestion can take this product. However, I do not believe that this ad is culturally biased. This product can be used by anyone of any race to clear chest congestion.
Mucinex® comes in a nasal spray, a capsule, or a liquid. The company now make a Maximum Strength Mucinex®. This product is sold over the counter at most pharmacies, food stores, and mass market stores. You can also purchase this product online at...
