HOW DOES NICOLAS HOLBROOK CHANGE AND GROW DURING THE NOVEL MUSIC ON THE BAMBOO RADIO?
In the book, “MUSIC ON THE BAMBOO RADIO”, written by Martin Booth, the main character, Nicholas changes and grows throughout the book. Before he was a boy who lived his happy life with his family members but during the World War Two his life changes and he becomes independent more mature and realizes how important family members are.
In the book he realizes how important family members and how it feels living without his family members. Before he didn’t knew how important family members were and how hard it was to live without them until he experiences it himself.” Watch out for the floor, Mum, some of the boards are missing.” He cares about his family more than he used to before and knew how lucky he was to have his own family, his own parents. Not like others kids who didn’t have parents or couldn’t live with them. This shows that Nicolas has changed and grew throughout the book. He learned that without family members his life would be a misery and he couldn’t do anything without them. So as all the readers can see how much Nicolas missed his family when he was living at Sek Wan. After reading the book the reader can know that after living at Sek Wan when he returns back to his home he becomes more caring and he realizes what is the importance of family members.
In the book he becomes more mature and develops more as a person. When he used to live with his parents he didn’t used to care about the World War Two. After he starts living at Sek Wan without his parents he knows what it is like during the World War Two. ”He told them you are a boy, but also a brave soldier.” He becomes more responsible and mature throughout the whole book. After reading the book the reader can know that Nicolas is much more mature than before and knows what he should do and when. Throughout the book he develops more as person and is more mature.
