Kevin Michael McKeehan was born on October 22, 1964. The birth place was Fairfax Virginia. He is a professional musician, producer, and songwriter. All of his music is Christian with a little bit of a twist. His stage name is ‘Toby Mac.’ He got the nickname Toby before he was born from his older brother; Mac is just a shortened version on his last name, McKeehan. Toby Mac is now forty-three years old, but his career is still going strong. At home he has a wife named Amanda McKeehan, and in 2002 himself and Amanda adopted twins.
Toby Mac is an excellent hero to have. He sets good examples for everyone. He is a HUGE religious influence to people all over the world, including myself. Toby stands up for what he believes in, being God, and doesn’t back down to anyone who tries to squash his dreams. Also, he is very successful and happy doing what he loves to do! I don’t see how anyone could not see him as a hero!
Toby has a very good goal in life that he hopes to achieve and change the world forever. His goal, in his own words, is: “…to start a revolution that will sweep across cities and erase the devise lines that keep people and cultures apart.” He goes into detail about how diversity is the way to be in his album ‘Welcome to Diverse City.’
Toby Mac’s career first launched with the band he was in, called DC Talk. DC Talk started in 1990. Toby was in the band for ten years, from 1990 until 2000, when he launched his solo career. Toby’s solo career has been very successful. His first solo album was ‘Momentum’, which came out in 2001. After that ‘Welcome to Diverse City’ came out in 2004. And ‘Portable Sounds’ has just recently been released, in 2007.
Toby refers to his music as “music gumbo,” because in his music he uses a mix of rock, pop, rap, and reggae, to reach all kinds and races of audiences.
