~ India is a democratic nation where its people elect its government.
~ The democracy of India gives every eligible citizen of India its voting rights, without any
discrimination of caste, creed, colour, sex or education.
~ Thus, the democratic India follows the system of a nation for the people, of the people and by
the people;
~ By declaring India as a democratic nation, it becomes clear that the government will remain
faithful to its citizens and accept basic principles of freedom, equality and brotherhood.
~ Moreover, the Indian democracy declares certain guidelines like acceptance of Universal Adult
Franchise, declaration of basic rights, special powers for the Parliament and Legislature, etc.
~ All these provisions make India a completely democratic republic.
3. India - A Sovereign, Socialist and Secular Republic:
~ The Preamble of our Constitution declares India as a socialist and secular state.
~ The theory of democracy with Universal Adult Franchise gives political equality to Indians.
~ The Preamble of the Constitution aims at providing social and economical equality.
~ India is a secular state, which gives equal justice to all its citizens irrespective of their religions.
~ The government of India does not form policies, which discriminate various religions living in India.
~ Thus, with these facts, India is considered as a Sovereign, Socialist and Secular Republic nation.
~ All the citizens are free to adopt and follow any religion.
