My goal: Help people in need

When I joined Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane two years ago, I wanted to enroll in a club to make new friends and do some activities during my free time. For that, I registered myself in Rotaract club; it is an international association that signifies the concept of “Rotary en Action”. It represents a group of friends aged between eighteen to thirty years old that are developing the idea of helping the persons in need for the benefit of their community. It is very important for me to assist people and make events to aid others. The writer Abraham Verghese said: “I felt the same helplessness, knowing that the illness was inextricably linked to the bigger problem of homelessness, disenfranchisement and despair.”(Abraham Verghese, p 456). It was a really a shock for to see this misery, so my happiness is to see the smile on those people faces when I give them my help.
During the spring 2011, I had the occasion to attend the big event of Clothes Donation at the rural community of Agoumad. For this village which close to Ifrane, the winter is really cold and it snows a lot. The journalist Gregg Easterbrook said: “Debris, dust, and gases thrown into the atmosphere by the impact would have blocked sunlight, temporarily cooling the planet – and indeed, contemporaneous accounts describe dim skies, cold summers and poor harvests.”(Gregg Easterbook, Field of Reading, p 384-385 The sky is Falling). Our goal is to collect the maximum amount of clothes and provide them to the majority of the population. To accomplish this mission, we first distribute the tasks to each member. Every member prepared an empty box and asked each person in his/ her building to give the clothes that he/ she no longer wears. Secondly, the president of the association sent an e mail to the international organization “Rotary” to help our university by given some pieces of wears.
