Being a Nana has brought new meaning to me, I have two of the most precious grandsons that a Nana could have. I am 40 years old and have three beautiful children, two wonderful son in laws and hopefully a soon to be daughter in law, and God has blessed me with the most precious gifts of all, my Gabriel and Garrett.
As a child spending most of my childhood with my grandparents, I dreamed of one day having grandchildren and doing the things that my grandparents did with me. I always looked forward to the weekends and the long summers with them and hearing about stories of my mom, her sister and brother when they were younger, believe me there are some good ones and I still can hear my grandmother laughing and crying telling the stories. I only have the memories, my grandmother passed away in June of 1994 two weeks before my daughter was born, and my other grandmother that I spent half my growing up with passed away when my daughter turned three. So, my daughter did not get to experience the times with them that I did.
When I first found out that I was going to be a Nana, I was overjoyed. But the thing that scared me was that my oldest daughter was already six months and didn’t even know that she was pregnant. We had little time to prepare for my grandson and we indeed made the intentions of his welcoming in the world a good one. We had the baby shower on a Saturday June 12, 2010 and the day was beautiful. My daughter of course was in complete misery but she had a great time. The following day she had been having mild contractions, mind you my grandson is not due till the end of August, so...
