My Passion for Memory Verse
| Did you know that according to the book, “Psychology – The Science of Mind and Behavior” by Mcgraw-Hill, if I give you a series of items, for example the numbers: 3 7 9 8 4 6 1 7 2 4 9 5, your mind can only retain five to nine numbers? Also, did you know that you are more likely to remember your notes for your exam if you write it in a blue book or if you have farted during studying your notes and you accidentally farted while taking the exam? Today, I’m going to tell you about my interest in memorizing – not nosebleed terms and definitions, but rather Bible verses. A memory verse is very different because it is not just memorizing lines, but hiding them in your heart as stated in Psalm 119:105. Also memory verses are of great benefit in terrible situations like being shipwrecked and left in an island all alone and without food and hope or during times of doubt if you are going to resort to the last guy available in campus because you’re the only one in class that is still a member of SMP. After I give you a little background on how I came to love memory verses, I’ll give you a list of some of the verses I love and I’ll tell you the significance of memorizing them. My interest started when I first attended Sunday School at the age of three. I can still remember the first verse I memorized and its John 1:3a, “All things were made by Him.” Since then, I always attended Sunday School and memorize Bible verses. Because the church is in partnership with my previous school it became a requirement that each student, from nursery to fourth year, must memorize verses. As I have remembered, when I was in nursery, the teacher would tell the whole class the same Bible story for the whole week and will make us memorize a short verse that tells the lesson of the whole story.
