Nantucket

Nantucket

Once there was a leprechaun from Nantucket his name was Lapierro. He was angry all the time and had a really bad attitude. He scared everyone even the wrinkled old troll living under the bridge. He loved to make people cry but the King of the Ireland couldn’t take it anymore so he sent his son David to go and kill the evil leprechaun. David agreed and set out on his quest. The last thing David’s father told him was to watch out for leprechauns because they were so tricky.
David sought out the leprechaun in the forever-evergreen forest. Finding where he lived was easy because for a little dude he sure had a nasty reputation. He was known far and wide as a fellow you did not want to mess with. When David saw the leprechaun he thought to himself that he really didn’t look so tough especially for a little guy. He confronted the evil leprechaun and asked him why he was so mean when other leprechauns he knew were busy taking care of pots of gold, bringing good luck to humans and helping their cousins the yard gnomes take care of the gardens. Lapierro the leprechaun said that he hadn’t always been so mean but that he became a bully after everyone was his friend only because they wanted something from him. No one ever befriended him for himself. This made him feel very used and so he had no more faith in humanity. From that moment on he just found it easier to keep being nasty to keep people away. At least that way he didn’t have to grant any more wishes or give people gold.
David listened to Lapierro tell his story. Then he told him that if he didn’t give people the chance to get to know him they he would never find a true friend. He made him a disguise as a poor but very short beggar so he could go among the people as a regular “guy” instead of as a leprechaun. Soon he not only made many friends but found true love. He was so grateful to David for his advice that he gave him a pot of gold and invited him to be best man at his wedding where he married a wood...
