Netflix and the Revolution of Digital Content

Netflix

I selected the company Netflix because it sells the one product that I am interested in the most, movies. As an avid film buff, I feel that Netflix offers an amazing service to its customers, online streaming and home delivery of movies. They offer excellent prices as opposed to the brick-and-mortar movie rental stores that charge you a high price per movie you rent. I am a member of Netflix myself and I feel that this is one of the most successful e-commerce companies out there because they have excellent prices for the service they provide and they make renting DVDs an easy and enjoyable service.
The company’s goal is to help subscribers find movies they like from over 100,000 DVD titles, plus a separate library of over 10,000 titles that can be watched instantly on subscribers’ TVs and PCs, with no due dates, no late fees, and no shipping fees. With their personalized movie recommendations and quick delivery they are one of the top ranked companies in customer satisfaction.
Netflix is an online DVD rental service, offering flat rate rental-by-mail and online streaming to customers living in the United States. They provide a monthly flat-fee service for renting DVD movies. A subscriber creates an order list, also known as a rental queue, of DVDs to rent. They are then shipped to customers in one business day. In order to get a new DVD, the customer must mail a previous movie they rented back to Netflix in a prepaid mailing envelope that is given to them. Once Netflix receives that movie, the company sends the customer the next available movie on their rental list. They have various plans with different price ranges, but their most popular plan is $16.99 a month, allowing a customer to rent up to three DVDs at a time, with unlimited exchanges. Also included in that plan is the ability to stream unlimited movies directly to their PC, TV (with specific devices), or an Xbox 360.
