Introduction
By definition Data security is the practice of keeping data protected from corruption and unauthorized access. (Data security).
This report is about how to provide a good security measure in order to protect the TOWN COUNCIL network.
TASK I: secure data storage and transfer
A. DATA PROTECTIONS ISSUES
Computer connected to network are more exposed to potential damages access by unauthorized hackers and the protection of a network is very complex and a big challenge due to so many data protection issues such as:

PHYSICAL ACCESS
Unrestricted physical access to a computer or a network is a security threat that can compromise the security of a particular network. If a hacker has physical access to a network, it will expose the company’s data or business to a danger such as loss of information and Damage of hardware (PhysicalNetworkSecurity).
One of the measures that can be taken to prevent this is to lock up anything that can provide physical network access.

COMPUTER VIRUS AND WORMS
A computer virus is an executable program that may cause damage of your hard disk contents (antivirus).
While a worm is a self-replicating virus that does not alter files but resides in active memory and duplicates itself in order to stop the performance of the computer (definition/worm).

UNAUTHORISED ACCESS
Unauthorised person who get access to a particular department in the network may affect the confidentiality the integrity and the accountability of the data so by implementing a firewall it will help to prevent unauthorised access to the network.

STAFF
Employee most of the time download file from internet, use removable media and also do not keep their password secret without knowing that all these actions can compromise the security of the network.
So they must be train in order to make them understand any data protection issues and how to avoid them.
