The character of our interview today: Mr. Nguyen Bao Duong, the manager of a traditional restaurant named Thai ho quan. Beginning the business 5 years ago, his restaurant has been becoming a favor address for customers who want to find out Vietnamese values in cuisine.

Interviewer: Hi Mr. Duong. What can you say about you business now?
Interviewee: Oh, as you see, I think it has been developing well in recently.
Interviewer: Sure. I know that you started your business 5 years ago since you just graduated from the college. So from your real experience, what’re the main roles which a manager must take up?
Interviewee: I can’t say that I’m an experienced manager, but in my opinion, there’re some roles for almost of successful managers. They’re becoming strategic and operational planners, organizing their own business, building teams and supervising the rate of the progress. And an indispensable role is coordinating stuffs who’ll bind with your restaurant..
Interviewer: What’s about the hardest role? Is it a strategic or operational planner?
Interviewee: I’m afraid none of them.. When two friends and I started this business, it took us a long time to complete preparations about business strategy. We decided to invest our own savings to open a restaurant which serves traditional dishes only. Our aim customers were foreigners who want to discover Vietnamese culture, with suitable cost for the best service quality. During the last time, the satisfactory of each customer is the highest guideline which brought us to the success.
Base on the strategy built, we planned the operation. We had schedules for each period, and built the budgets to realize plans. Therefore, we always know what we must do at that time, and carry out the work step by step. We also have a small convention to seize the entity view. Monthly and weekly plan of the restaurant will be announced to all of the stuff at the first day of month or week, and the feedbacks will be issued at the...
