Riordan Manufacturing WAN Project Part 3
Riordan Manufacturing has a current Wide Area Network (WAN), which needs to be updated and secured. The main reason for this paper is to get all the important information and figure a new way to upgrade and update Riordan’s current network.
Riordan Manufacturing is one the best and industry leader in there plastic injection modeling. They currently have facilities in California, Georgia, Michigan and China. This company cannot function without any communication networks.
This documentation will give the management a slight idea, what is currently running in there network and what is there current baseline in there network topology. Information below represents the current supplied network setup for each location.
Existing WAN
As mentioned above there are four sites of Riordan Manufacturing and each corporate office has WAN connections, and also a satellite link to their China location, which has no security. The device inventory for San Jose location as follows:
1. The management division has: 36 VOIP telephones.
2. R&D has 1000baseF system backbone, 15 MAC computers and 3 high-end color printers and a plotter. The 1000baseF system is joined to the company LAN via a switch.
3. The servers are: a WIN server, a WIN Exchange server, a UNIX server, which hosts the company SAP ERP SW. All the servers are IBM HS20 blade servers and the main UNIX server is an IBM p series.
4. An UPS is provided to prove backup power for the server room
5. The last section is the communications environment, which has two main parts: the data link to the Satellite base station via a switch and a VoIP router to join the two facilities with voice.
