Such changes are like the reforms initiated by Mohamed Bin Tughlaq during Mughal rule. Such illogical decisions without enough ground work will only increase the mess in the present education system. This is trying to tie the horse behind the cart and his decisions are foolish in nature.
 
The primary importance was to streamline the present school education system. That is to rationalize the subjects at the High school and higher secondary school level and make the study common across India with regional language as optional. This would have created more efficient and less tedious educational objective which the teacher, student and parents would have found more focused and easy to handle. The Higher secondary level should have been used as a stepping stone for students pursuing higher education according to their capabilities and talents. Admission to higher education should have been screened on the basis of their performance at the High school level and the 10th board exam, which is not possible at the moment. Such modification will enable everyone to pursue higher education by hook or crook even if they don't have the academic brilliance to pursue the same. Where is the emphasis on vocational education? What basis to decide the eligibility of students for vocational, science, commerce, engineering, technology, arts, finance, business, medical-dental, paramedical, human resources, language, politics, public relations, special engineering, safety and security, IT, management etc.?
 
What are the avenues for students who cannot pursue education beyond the 10th? Earlier they had the opportunity to obtain the minimum qualification of passing 10th standard. Now that avenue may not exist and put them at great disadvantage if they cannot pursue and pass XIIth. Therefore, the modification is to be rejected as it is neither uniform nor based on careful assessment of educational requirements of India.
