In our society today, it is easy to get caught up in crowd everyone is following. Pure pressure along with the latest fashion trends, new trends of music styles, brand names, and logos have a huge impact on the choices we make and the way we live our life. A lot of people go through rough patches in life deciding who their true self is and what makes them who they are and during these life stages they may look around and based on their taste and what they like they gather bits and pieces of themselves. People’s upbringing, home environment, morals, character, and individuality play a huge factor as well in one sculpting themselves into who they are and want to be. Everyone has their own road to travel upon with different curves, bumps in the road, and distance to endure. The directions may not be built into a GPS but mapped out due to how each individual handles situations in the present. It is vital to have happiness, individuality, and Guidance when it comes to helping figuring out one’s own roads to take in life.
“I took the [road] less traveled by and that has made all the difference.” –from “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost is my favorite quote of all time when it comes to deciding which paths and roads to take with my life. This quote is one of the most misunderstood quotes of all time because it can have so many viewpoints. The meaning of this quote simply means to be content with any routes or detours one may take throughout his or her lifetime. Every road we travel upon has reasoning and life lessons waiting to be learned. Frosts had a friend who was never satisfied no matter what path in life he took with his decisions and in his poem his stanzas are about simply being content no matter how bad the last path you traveled upon was so to speak. We cannot beat ourselves up or focus too much on bad decisions made from the past but rather focus more on making the best with the present and finding happiness along the journey.
