The topic I chose is “What is the appropriate age for dating?” Some people may wonder, well what is the appropriate age for dating? On one hand, some argue that at the age of sixteen is the appropriate age to start dating, and I strongly agree with that one. From this perspective, at the age of sixteen, I feel that teens are more mature to handle relationships. At that age they are also just or should be getting their license to drive and old enough to work a part time job to have money to pay for the dates. To me at the age of sixteen you start to have real emotions and you’re maturing more and more. According to a guy named Mike Domitrz who is the parent of two lovely teenagers believe that sixteen is the appropriate age to let your kids start dating as well. I feel that teens to need to experience dating somewhat before college, towards their senior year to learn from experiences and to find out what they don’t want in a relationship in the near future. Even group dates are a great idea and some parents may feel comfortable when knowing that their child is not alone. A guy named Bart Martinez, who is a father of five believe that teens should start going on unsupervised dates at the age of eighteen. I somewhat agree with that depending on the maturity level and then again I don’t because I feel that sixteen is old enough for teens to have their privacy. At sixteen, a teen shall want to feel free to go out on dates on their own. It also depends on how mature your child is and boys these days mature much slower than girls but again I think they are mature enough to handle going on a date with a girl they like from time to time. As a parent I would also look at what kind of grades my child makes because being in a relationship can be a bit of a distraction in school, especially for girls that age because I was one of those girls.
