Since its conception, cloning has had people arguing different views on why cloning is either one ofthe greatest breakthroughs in the scientific world, or why it is a timebombwaiting to detonate. The topic has created controversy about everything from biological validity to its unnatural practice. Predictions of ways it will be manipulated for misuse have overshadowed the idea of cloning since its humble, successful, and potentially beneficial beginnings. Statements that cloning will be contrary to human dignity have given cloning an image unacceptable to most. There is much more to be accomplished before human cloning is a reality, since there is still more to be done to flex the potential cloning holds. But dismissing cloning could be a big mistake, since it could be beneficial. Many feel it should not be outlawed. I, however, feel it should be, reproductive cloning that is.
I whole-heartedly believe that there isn’t really a medical reason for reproductive cloning, other people wanting to see if they can use science to create life. Because of the lack of information on this type of cloning, how can one justify putting a living being through this process, without knowing what would happen? Who are we to say who lives again and is 're-made'and who dies? If we were to successfully clone a human, then that clone would be treated as an object. They would not have a “normal life” because people would either expect them to be just like the person that they were cloned from, or treat them as though their life is not their own. With our world already so filled with poverty, homeless, and parentless children, shouldn’t our scientists and leaders be trying to solve those problems instead of playing God? This money could be put to better use feeding and sheltering these people Cloning humans could very well drive a wedge into the...
