Think about our daily lives. How many times a day are we exposed to the media? After reviewing my own everyday life and talking with others about their exposure to the media, it is a known reality that we are continuously surrounded and affected by the media. Mediums can appear in many different forms (television, newspapers, billboards, radio, etc.) Throughout the last century, magazines have become the most popular and prevalent types of media. By definition, magazines are periodicals containing a collection of articles, stories, pictures, and other features. With eye-appealing covers and titles, magazines are designed to grab our attention and are located in the most frequented areas. They can be found in grocery stores, gas stations, libraries, barbershops, doctor’s offices, and even airports. There are hundreds of different magazines published, each one containing unique material geared towards specific targeted audiences. Although magazines of the same genre attempt to distinguish themselves, they contain many universal features. O and More are two magazines that are categorized as women’s interest magazines. After examining the content, publication, cost, targeted audience, advertising, and popularity of O magazine and More magazine, it is evident that these two magazines resemble each other, yet have distinguishing characteristics.

O magazine, founded by icon Oprah Winfrey, is a monthly magazine that appeals to all types of women. Each issue of O contains gripping stories, powerful ideas, advice, and articles on health and fitness, careers, relationships, beauty, fashion, food, and books. More magazine is a women’s lifestyle magazine that covers topics such as health, career, money, travel, beauty, and fashion for women in their 40s and 50s.
