Introduction

This paper lays out a training program to increase the effectiveness of groups and teams within an organization. The training program will cover team communication, collaboration and conflict management. Blockbuster is one of the most recent mega corporations to fail due to bad organizational behavior. It is difficult for large businesses to change. Frequently big business is grid-locked with a deep and nested organizational structure which makes horizontal collaboration and change difficult to achieve (Fenn, 2010). The team communication training may have served them well.

Develop a Training Program

To increase the effectiveness of groups and teams within an organization and to achieve goals set forth by the organization, it is essential to put a training plan in place that will enhance communication, group collaboration, and conflict management. The training plan that has been created will cover those important aspects that will help create effective groups and teams.

Before the training begins we will be administering work surveys to identify each group members preferred communication style. This will give the trainers insight to the personalities within the team. With this insight the trainer will be able to customize the training to be more effective. After the surveys are finished the training will included the following areas that will be necessary for effective and productive groups and teams.

Communication Training:

* Active listening
* Reading and appropriate use of nonverbal and paraverbal cues.
* Asking appropriate questions to clarify communications of other team members
* Treating each other with respect and courtesy
* Training on the different types of communication that can or will be used and how to use them effectively.
