There has been a lot in the news lately about outsourcing of jobs overseas and of outsourcing of jobs period. Outsourcing, to my understanding, is done to cut costs. In my opinion, by what I’ve heard, I believe that outsourcing of jobs overseas determines on where, in specific, the jobs are going. I watched on the news Onion News Network and a gentleman was sending his own work overseas.
This affected me in two ways. In one way, since this was a poor country/family, I agreed because it was helping him and his family. In the other way, this man is getting someone else to do his work while he does nothing but turn the work in and he gets the raises. He said he used money that he would buy coffee with and paid someone overseas for them to do his job for him so that he could unleash his full potential. He sent it to India and a man that received the work said that he made $0.68 an hour and was now able to feed his family. This touched me because this man is poorer than we are and this actually helped him and his family.
This story could also go both ways though because the man that sent the work says that he get his assignment from his supervisor and then sends it over, but he has gotten two raises since and I know he is making more than $0.68, so he is actually getting raises for work that he didn’t do and all the man in India gets is $0.68, but I’m sure that is a lot for them. (I tried looking up how much it exactly was in Indian money but couldn’t find it). This news clip also stated that many of the overseas workers have been able to outsource their own work to people that are even poorer than themselves. Foreign workers can make as much as $6 a day doing work for American CFOs. In my opinion, when they are poor like this, I’m for the outsourcing to help them and their families.
However, we are losing a lot of jobs in the United States because they are sending them overseas and that is affecting us and our families as well. So many have lost their jobs...
