Growing up in Ukraine was really fun, for me. I am from a town called- Sumy. Personally, I find Ukraine really fascinating. I had a lot a friends that I really loved hanging out with and going to different places. Even though it’s pretty cold in winter, we still had a lot of fun. We used to build snowmen in the playground at recess and after school. We would come home from school, have lunch and then, eagerly, go out even though it was freezing. In the summer, when it was a lot warmer, we would go out to the lake, take some snacks with us, and spend the whole day playing, riding our bikes and making up fun games that we found really fun.
There are plenty things to see in my town. The parks are really fun, and in the summer, they are pretty crowded, because people really like to take their kids there. You would see mothers walking around with strollers along with their friends. They also host concerts of very famous singers, circuses coming to town from all around the world, really fun festivals with music and dancing and singing. They would have singing competitions (karaoke) right on the street.
Moreover; the food is really good. In Ukraine, we are famous for having first meals and second meals. The first meal would be always a sort of soup. Some of the famous soups are: Borsch, Akroshkra, Sorrel soup, Pea soup, Chicken soup, Buckwheat soup, etc. Whereas, the second meal would usually consist of meat and garnish. Some the famous second meals are: Pilaf, Roast, Beef Stroganoff, Ragout, Vareniki, Meat or Chicken in Jelly, Pelmeni, etc. The Ukrainians are really famous for Borsch, Pelmeni, and Salo; which is practically fat (starch). They also have a variety of salads like: “Schuba”, which is herring under “fur coat”, Olivie, Vinaigrette, Mimosa, Salad with calamari, Greek salads, etc.
