Pakistani Weddings

Pakistani Weddings are a fusion of religious events of Islam like Nikkah and Walima and cultural events of India such as Dholki, Mayyon and Mehndi. The preparation of these colorful event starts months before the actual functions. Dholkis are held at homes of various relatives and friends. Days before the wedding, relatives and friends from different cities and countries start arriving and they stay at the groom’s or bride’s home where dance practices and dholkis are held.

If we go back ten years from now, weddings were not as extravagant as they are nowadays. There used to be only three functions but due to adaptation of others cultures and traditions weddings are not the same anymore. Weddings planners are appointed to help organize the functions and dresses are designed by special designers. There was no concept of wedding planners or designers back then.
