Strategic planning might not seem very important to you and I, but in the business world it is a vital tool that helps a company or organization find success over short and long term periods of time. It helps a company decide what it will be producing, or what services to provide, how it will compete within its chosen industry, and even how it plans to grow over time. In this paper National Tire & Battery, NTB, will be analyzed, and a strategic plan will be created in regards to how it will grow over the next three years; a plan will also be introduced for measuring the success of the strategic plan. This will also show that NTB can continue to grow and remain prosperous, while improving processes and capitalizing on the rapid growth of the surrounding areas.
NTB is a member of The TBC Retail Group, which includes NTB, Merchant’s Tire and Auto Centers, and Big O Tire stores. There are over 1200 locations in North America, strategically placed in the larger cities. NTB employees ASE certified mechanics and highly trained technicians, which ensures that one always receives great service at any of their locations (n.a. 2013).
Since I am an employee of NTB, I have a great deal of knowledge on what it takes to operate one of the stores; I also am aware of the areas that the company falls short on providing services to our customers. And with the multitudes of automotive service facilities, there is not really a great deal that separates them from each other except pricing. NTB tries to separate themselves from other similar companies by the amount of repair services available, which seems to be a strength and weakness.
