P3 - Factors that influence diets
1) Health Factors
There are many factors that are affecting the health of people's body. Those factors are therefore, influencing what people can or cannot eat. Those people whose health had been affected by a factor should eliminate certain products from the body in order to have a balanced died. Those are some health factors that can affect the health of an individual: diabetes mellitus, coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, lactose intolerance, food allergy and loss of ability to feed independently. Those factors are influenced by different types of products.
- Diabetes Mellitus
This is a condition where the hormone insulin is not being produced by the pancreas, the quantities are not enough or the homes insulin is not being used properly by the body. There are two types of diabetes mellitus. If there is lack of glucose in the body and if the condition is untreated, then the diabetes would lead to certain death in the cells and vital organs. The first type of diabetes mellitus is called IDDM (insulin depended diabetes mellitus), known as type 1 diabetes. The second type is called NIDDM (non-insulin depended diabetes mellitus), known as type 2 diabetes. In order to get rid of first type diabetes you need to be injected with insulin injections. However, to be able to get rid of the type 2 diabetes you either treat it by taking a combination of tablets and diet or by diet alone. It is important that if people suffer from those conditions should see immediately a registered dietician. It is important that people have a healthy diet or else the diabetes can lead to some very serious effects including: blindness, kidney failure, strokes, gangrene and leading to amputation of lower limbs.
